The Master's Degree in Teaching Chemistry is based and focused on Didactics of Chemistry. This is an internationally recognized discipline, which has two supplementary aspects: a field of research and a teaching context, where most of the time cross-disciplinary issues are defined, where also intervention teaching/learning models are proposed. The union of both aspects determines a cross-disciplinary program component by triggering formal research and transformation processes of classroom issues, problems and processes related to chemistry, its didactics and other disciplines, such as pedagogy and psychology.

The research topics of this disciplinary field are related to:

- The pedagogical contents knowledge
- Relations between science history, its epistemology and didactics
- Cross-disciplinary and chemistry in context
- Philosophy, history, and education
- Teacher's professional knowledge
- Pedagogy and own processes of educability (curriculum)
- Teachability and teaching chemistry to improve the learnability of concepts (cognitive processes associated to learning)
- Practical laboratory work
