About Us

The Department of Biology promotes a political and pedagogical project of the Colombian education whose mission is the teacher training of Biology and related knowledge by generating, applying and spreading of the pedagogical knowledge in order to sponsor the scientific and cultural development and ethical attitudes to Colombian society issues. The curriculum for BA in Biology is conceived as an educational and assessment research project of this training program. Firstly, it is assumed as a formative research linked to the academic processes; secondly, related to research processes that allow a self-regulation to improve the education quality.

 Academic & Administrative Structure

The Academic-Administrative structure, the suitability of the management team and their leadership role, the guidelines to conduct the administration, the system and instruments of information of Department and the communication degree between the players typify and establish the structural and functional requirements for a proper administration.

Then it is critical to set administrative styles relevant to the Department academic purposes in order to give a very dynamic status to the academic programs in their different scopes: teaching, research and extension. An administration with such features helps to guide and build the collective dynamic of the Department from this perspective, the management of the leadership team seeks above all to create state of affairs to promote and boost the activity of the academic Department.

In this context, typical information and communication systems are regarded on the one hand as ways that help to make easy the always-hard and hampered communication process and thus a process of meaning collective building; and on the other hand, as a result of the environment created by and inside the Department.
